Unseeded Tamarine Tanasugarn stunned second seed Jelena Jankovic of Serbia 6-3, 6-2 in the women’s 4th round. 4th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova was also shown the door as she lost to Agnieszka Radwanska in 3 sets. Defending champion Venus Williams, however, booked her quarter-final place with a straight sets win over Alisa Kleybanova. Serena Williams also had little trouble dispatching Bethanie Mattek in straight sets. 5th seed Elina Dementieva of Russia beat Shahar Peer to make it to the quarters.
